I’m standing in the majestic Old Library at London’s Guildhall, after the graduation ceremony for Guildhall actors. Sipping champagne, I’m talking to one of the graduates and we’re discussing goals as pictures: if you make a picture of your goal, or can visualise it, that somehow creates an emotional connection that pulls you along towards that goal. It increases your chances of achieving it.
“That’s true,” said the graduate. “Do you know, I’ve never told anyone this, but when I first arrived at Guildhall, I looked at the names on Gold Medal board in the foyer and I said, I’m going to have my name there. I was set on that right from the start.”
She had just received the Gold Medal from the Lord Mayor.
